New School Year 2010

It's hard to believe it, but summer is officially over! Today is a day of new beginnings in the Brown household...

Lau
ren is now a senior in high school! She had a full summer, complete with working at Stimmels Bakery, spending time with friends, going to Europe with my mother and beginning to work on her college applications.

It is hard to believe that this will most likely be her final year living with us! I still remember well her first day of kindergarten, where has the time gone?

Justin
is now a sophomore. No more jitters about what high school will be like, he is ready for the school year and even eager for it to begin. He spent his summer taking a Health class, running with the Cross Country team and reading multiple books about acting.

He is ready to face his four honors level classes and is eager to perform with both the Concert Choir and the Madrigals this year. He will run with the Cross Country Team this fall, then spend the remainder of the year focusing on theater. And he is already anticipating Christmas time, when he will get his temporary driver's license!

Logan
was up early and left for the bus at 7:10am this morning! He has officially left his elementary school years behind and begins the junior high adventure today! As a 7th grader, he is excited to have a locker, get to switch classes throughout the day, select his 12 elective classes each year and wander through the halls unescorted by a teacher!

His spent much of his summer volunteering at nature camps, playing golf and spending time with Jameson. He will be greatly missed while at school, but he is so ready for junior high!

Ethan
stepped onto the bus at 8:40am this morning. Today is a day full of new beginnings for him. He sadly left Kenwood Elementary where he has been since kindergarten. Today begins his "career" at Conneaut Elementary. As a third grader this year, he will pave the way there until Jameson joins him when he is in the 6th grade.

Ethan spent his summer attending nature camps, a golf clinic and a bowling camp. He also enjoyed several rounds of golf, jumping off the high diving board, doing puzzles and playing video games. He is so brave as he embarks on this new adventure at Conneaut. And he, too, will be greatly missed at home!

James
on was not up yet when Logan left this morning. And cried as he watched Ethan leave on the bus today, a ritual I imagine repeating most every day this year! Jameson only has his Early Intervention class once a week this year, so he will have to get used to playing with just Mommy most days.

This morning, he is somewhat wallowing in his misery, soothed only by a viewing of "Monster's Inc.," his new favorite "scary show." It will be a new beginning for the two of us, as we spend our days together, awaiting the return of the other kids and Michael each day!

Summer has slipped away a bit too quickly for me this year, but I look forward to what the new school year holds for us individually and as a family!

Off to watch the "scary show" with Jameson, in this otherwise very quiet house...
