We enjoyed our many traditional Christmas celebrations as a family again this year. We started off by ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, something we have done the week before Christmas for years now. It is a great reminder for all of us that Christmas is (or should be) more about giving and serving others, than it is about getting presents.
On Christmas Eve, our family went out for dinner, this year, to The Olive Garden. We then worshiped with our church family during the Christmas Eve service.
Then, of course, Christmas Day arrived, complete with lots of present-opening and excitement.
After another day to clean up and pack, we left for our annual Christmas Conference in Indianapolis. The kids all enjoyed their time either in childcare or babysitting in childcare. Michael and I were challenged by great speakers and corporate worship. The older kids stayed up way too late spending time with other staff teens and we visited the Circle Center Mall more times than I can count. Perhaps most surprisingly, we all left the conference healthy and have remained so several days later! The children are enjoying their final day of Christmas break before classes and all their extra-curricular activities begin full-swing again!
It has been a great break and I am sad to see it go, but look forward to what is in store for us in the weeks ahead!
